Manager, Product Strategy (Insurance)
Role objectives:
- Spot unmet product needs and/or identify untapped market opportunities, then evaluate their commercial value to the organisation; originate fresh product concepts, shape and pilot their early designs; develop integrated new business strategies and value propositions intended to spur innovation and deliver tangible business results; and present these to senior leaders and key decision-makers;
- Contribute to strategic and one-off initiatives, covering regulatory industry consultations and distribution channel programmes;
- Produce robust business and financial analyses that inform management decisions, create presentation decks for leadership updates, and deliver these to senior stakeholders;
- Collaborate tightly with multiple departments and teams — including Actuarial, Finance, Product, Pricing, Customer & Marketing, Operations, channel management groups, and frontline staff — to secure alignment and coordinated delivery across the organisation.

This is done by carrying out market research and analysis, collecting input from both internal stakeholders (e.g., Business and Sales Proposition Team, Channel Teams, frontline) and external sources (e.g., competitors, reinsurers, consulting firms), running feasibility reviews, and turning findings into practical, customer-focused solutions that other functional teams can action.
- Contribute to strategic and one-off initiatives, including regulatory industry consultations and distribution channel programmes, by evaluating business and financial implications and putting forward recommendations for senior management.
- Produce robust business and financial analyses that support management decision-making, create presentation materials for leadership updates, and present these to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Degree holder majoring in business, insurance, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years of business development experience within the local Hong Kong insurance sector, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity
- Prior exposure to product or channel management is preferred
- Strong commercial and financial judgment, backed by proven analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and presentation skills, fluent in both spoken and written English and Chinese
- Thorough knowledge of Hong Kong life insurance products and market conditions; direct frontline experience is a plus
- Capacity to adjust rapidly to shifting priorities and work effectively across different functions
- Strategic and creative outlook, able to generate original ideas and question existing approaches
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a clear focus on growing the business
